Hey everyone!! Today I’m adding to the Philadelphia Travel Files and giving you the best of a super cool section of Philly called Fishtown. This area has been completely revitalized and has much character. There are tons of fun things to do and so many yummy places to stop for food and drinks. When you plan to visit Philly, make sure to stop on by this little gem of a neighborhood.
Things to Do
Barcade: Part bar and part arcade..this place is a blast. It houses tons of retro arcade games and newer style ones!! Plus, you can enjoy cocktails while you play!! Double score.
The Global Angel Wings Project: You can find these all over the United States. The project was created to remind humanity that we are angels here on Earth. It’s always free to take pictures with the wings and become part of the art and an angel yourself. They are beautiful and definitely a must see.
Street Art Galleries: FishTown is known for it’s many murals and street art. Take a stroll around town and you will see many beautiful works of art. Some of the best spots to see the art are along Front Street and near the Girard Street train station. Make sure you have a camera ready for some super hip insta-worthy shots.
Pizza Brain: A pizza museum?? Yes please!! It’s the first of it’s kind and also part of the Guinness Book of World Records. There are tons of pizza memorabilia to scope and the best part is…they serve pizza too!! Learn about pizza history and enjoy some slices while you do it! Bring your own booze, bc this place is a BYOB too.
Where to Eat and Drink
Johnny Brenda’s: This restaurant and live music venue offers a fresh and seasonal menu that is unique and delicious. Try the Wagyu skirt steak. You won’t be disappointed.
Frankford Hall: A super chill beer hall with huge outdoor courtyard complete with picnic table and oversized umbrellas. Sample tons of different beers and try the giant pretzel for eats! A relaxed atmosphere and casual spot to hang with friends.
Fette Sau: Holy Moly BBQ heaven!! I can’t even describe the delicious smell that wafts from this place. Known for BBQ food and whiskey….this little gem is a must on your stop to Fishtown. Select what you want to eat at the counter cafeteria style and take you tray to sit wherever you want. This place has an adorable courtyard and unique vintage decor. Compliment your BBQ with some whiskey or bourbon, as they specialize in carrying unique brands.
